This was our first visit to St. John, and we already know we will definitely be back! Andante is a wonderful place - the views are 180+ degrees and absolutely gorgeous. The property owners, Rich and Marilyn care a great deal about the experience of those who stay, and it shows at every step in the process. The villa is decorated like a home, not a rental. There were great supplies for beach goers (chairs, coolers, blankets, beach bags) and also some snorkeling gear and pool floats.
Crystal, from the property management company, met us at the dock and escorted us to the villa. Driving on St. John is very intimidating at first, especially the last 100ft or so to Andante (very steep), but don't let that bother you. At first the steepness really bothered me, but by the second day, I was a pro at getting around. Be sure to rent a jeep - don't mess around with a car.
The kitchen is well appointed for cooking at the villa. I recommend ordering from Ronnie's Pizza if you arrive after dark and need to locate some dinner. Proximity to grocery stores was great (Starfish Market and St. John's Market) and make sure you don't miss the opportunity to pick up sandwiches from Sam and Jack's - not your ordinary sandwiches. They also have great meals for takeout, as well as some awesome meatballs you can add to any home cooked pasta dishes.
We have never been so sad to have a vacation come to an end. Andante (and St. John) felt like home and we will be back soon!
